Fasting the wrong way can have serious detriments to one's health. As a health coach, many people have come to me who haven't done it properly, which has lead to dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, and malnutrition, along with feeling fatigued, cognitive malfunctioning, irritability, & anxiousness. But doing it the right way doesn't cause these issues.

Fasting the wrong way can lead to an increase in hunger hormones, which can cause a person to overeat when they break their fast. This can lead to weight gain and an unhealthy relationship with food.

Finally, fasting too much can cause a person to become overly focused on food, which can lead to an unhealthy obsession with dieting.

Fasting the wrong way can also have serious psychological detriments. Fasting can lead to a feeling of deprivation, which can cause a person to become obsessed with food. It can also lead to feelings of guilt and shame when a person breaks their fast, which can lead to an unhealthy relationship with food.

Additionally, fasting can lead to an increase in stress hormones, which can cause a person to become irritable and anxious. Finally, fasting too much can lead to a decrease in cognitive functioning, which can lead to difficulty concentrating and making decisions. All of these psychological detriments can have a serious impact on a person's mental health.

What's most important is that the schedule for fasting for reducing inflammation, weight, joint pain, and cholesterol may look different than the maintenance schedule. It's important to find the right fasting schedule for YOUR body!
